lyrics

One thousand years come and gone
A great slumber comes to an end
A mountain stirs and unsettles the earth
Breaths from a throat of magma warm the sea

Believed to be bound by the blood of names
A draconic scourge as certain as the stars
Doomsingers burn for the words they cry
False virtues will come to an end

Heaving breaths beneath their scales
The air quivers around their mouths
Words of fire and hatred as hot
The wyrm infests; from the west begin

The Dragonrider’s shore begins her path
Jewel beneath the skin; fates ordained

One of twelve under dragon eyes
Under the looming lacustrian form
One of twelve under history’s eyes
Under the weight of the prophecy

Burdened with the earth as her chest
Burdened with the city as her head
Stricken with a body others claim
Stricken with the blood of deliverance

Belonging to other worlds, surrounded by sycophants
Disparaging their names. expectant and impatient
One crowned with their virtues, sbused by their faith
Another torn from their home, enduring false histories

Burdened with the roots as her veins
The skin of the fruit as her flesh
The voice of the tree as her mind
Reminding her of all that might be lost

Born into heaven, born unto burden
Blood is the redeemer, blood is the leader
A queen only for a name; reverence for a womb
A queen only for a Saint; the Virtue’s abuse
Born into heaven, born unto burden
Blood is the deceiver, blood is the conceiver
Free in only her dream, free in only nightmares
Where the dragonkin feeds

The courts conspire with all the heart of stone
To sway and break and tame all that they love
A hawk on the hunt for a bearer of the cup
Disappearing those of different hearts and minds

Omens grow like rot on carrion
Harkening the dragon—the fire noble
High western wheeling in the sky
Bellow forth the name of his master’s enemy

Molten starlight falls from the sky
Spread across the earth to quell the wyrmfire
The crust heaves and roars, the world exhaling flame
The ocean’s weight bears down, a cosmic force balanced
The world sick with red of the draconic plagues
Wrought with the pain of a starless night

A rose beneath her mind to slay nightmarish fiends
Of newborn-eating dragons infesting her dreams
And a touch beneath her breast, where many see a grave
A hand will find a heart bleeding in its cage

Fear it grows like like rot on carrion
Harkening the dragon—the green-eyed beast
The witch-wyrm form, from fabled woods
Who seeks to lay with the Nameless One

In the shadow of the great orange tree
History replayed and blurred by time
Dragonkillers born and witch-fighters now
For the scale-piercing sword of a thousand years gone

The great city writhes
Recoiling in fear
Draconic words impress themselves on the mind
Heresy revealed
Combatting the lies
To the great abuse of the virtuous knights

Born into heaven, born unto burden
Blood is the redeemer, blood is the leader
A queen only for a name; reverence for a womb
A queen only for a Saint; the Virtue’s abuse
Born into heaven, born unto burden
Blood is the deceiver, blood is the conceiver
Free in only her dream, free in only nightmares
Where the dragonkin feeds

Fallen from the sky, from the trail of lantern’s light
Deified contender to the subterranean blaze
Serpentine gods shed from the light of stars
Called to balance the wrath, the anger of the flame

Dragonflesh is seared in boiling seas
The carcass of gods washed ashore
The sign of the fires deep beneath the earth
Pushing at the soil—premonition of war

Wyrms descend upon the island of feathers
Razing the earth, cutting down man
An aging wound bleeds, pushing at the skin
Through their blood, revealing light

Removed from the sea, shackled waterless
Humans will desecrate their saving grace
Wyrms descend upon the island of feathers
Burning the earth with vomitous flame

Dragon-redeemed, reborn in flight
An ancient gem encased in flesh
Sent through time one-thousand years
To quell the rise of the imbalanced force

Bathed in the blue of life-giving waters
Fjords, lakes, or rivers; oceans or dew
All things holy, all things revered
The path kissed with rain will lead the way

Dragon-redeemed, reborn in the sky
A call from the waves to drown out the fire
Deeper than seas, a hatred without name
The waters will heed the wyrmfire’s call

Drowned in the red of human-eating flames
The magma of earth; the blazing throat
All things unholy, all things they fear
The path scorched with fire will signal the end

A call across time from ancestral blood
To face the weight, the maddening knowledge
Of wyrmfire and starlight
The churning cauldron of our creation
A call across time from lives long lived
To face the fear, the warmth of hell
To earn the grace of the long-haired star
Equilibrium, balanced once for all

“I am the light of fire and star
what I drink will drown”

The witch-wyrm form, mother betrayer
The scale-piercing sword to hunt down her kin
Seeking to lay with the nameless one
Felled by the blade of her own hands

Fire lain upon ocean skin
The fleets of all converge in the sea
The dread dragon awakens from sleep
From the depths of the earth

Molten starlight falls from the sky
Lain upon the earth to quell the wyrmfire
The oceans rise and swell, the dragonrider flies
The lover’s converge to face Virtue’s sin
The scales laid bare for the tip of a blade
Forced into the chest of the magma born

Blessed to be of dragonkin
A soul of water and blood of the sea
Embrace the dark and beauty of the depths
To fly at the side of starlight gods

The lovers remain, anchored to their souls
The truth will quake the world
A decade of work for an eternity
Of moments with each other
